Summer is here and in true British style it probably won’t last for long, so be sure to grab the latest styles before you miss out.

We aren’t all lucky enough to have a personal shopper and bottomless budget but by adding just a few key items to our wardrobe every season we can stay on trend without breaking the bank.

Here’s my top 6 picks for this summer that will compliment your existing wardrobe and be sure to make you stand out and feel great with little effort.

1 The printed Blouse

Printed blouses are huge this summer and will carry on into Autumn too, so it’s a great wardrobe investment.  The bold patterns look great teamed with jeans, a-line skirts, or even a cute pair of shorts.  The cherry print blouse is particularly popular.  The one below is from Topshop

2 Sandals

If you’re anything like me heels are a no go, unless an absolute necessity, and for a short period of time.  Good News …. this summer’s sandal trend are comfortable and relatively flat!  From 80’s polka dots to stripy colour-ways and beyond, they are great for everyday wear without sacrificing style.  They are basically taking sliders to the next level … add a splash of comfort, a dose of style and a hint of heel.

3 White Jeans

Some people would never be seen dead in white jeans over the age of 12 but they are hugely on trend this summer.  Before you skip onto style tip number 4, I have to add there are some variations to suit all body shapes.   Being a pear shape, I’m fully aware that white jeans would look dreadful on me, so I’d opt for a white A-Line skirt, flared jeans or wide leg trousers.  The great thing about white is it goes with anything, you could team it with some gorgeous pinks and rose gold jewellery or dare to go bright with vivid greens, yellows and orange.

4 The button front dress

I absolutely love this style and I’ve bought it in 2 colours, red and black.  It’s great for everyday wear, especially on those blazing hot days when you just want loose clothing that feels comfortable and looks great.  This dress is great for everyday work, errands, running around after the kids etc, but team it with a pair of cute sandals and colourful necklace and you can head out for the evenings feeling bright and breezy.

5 Co-ords

Getting dressed couldn’t be easier with this seasons huge trend on co-ords.  They are  no nonsense, easy to throw on and look great.  Choose from a vast range of co-ord sets on line from skimpy, bare all shorts and crop tops to more sophisticated trousers/skirts and top sets.  Simply accessorise and go.

6 Shorts

And finally, it wouldn’t be summer without a pair of shorts.  The paper-bag style shorts that are on trend right now are so flattering, they lengthen the legs and narrow the waist … what more could a girl want!

Wishing you a fantastic Summer
